Anesthesiologist

Anesthesiologist is a doctor who deals with anesthesia and surgical procedures. Typically, an anesthesiologist’s residency is four years after learning general anesthesia-related procedures. Although UK anesthesiologists are trained in anesthesia, some anesthesia-related procedures are handled by anesthesia assistants called anesthetics under anesthesiologist supervision. The field’s full title is anesthesia, intensive care and pain. Nowadays, in addition to operating room anesthesia, an anesthesiologist’s also provides treatments in ICU and controls acute pain (e.g. postoperative, joint disease, and cancer pain). Anesthesiology specialties include intensive care, pain, and cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and pediatric anesthesia.

Shafa Hospital’s anesthesiologists are present in operating rooms and manage all stages of anesthesia.

Operating Room Services

These include general operating room anesthesia, outpatient operating room anesthesia, cardiac operating room anesthesia, and pain management services. Anesthesia for ECT is also performed in the operating room, and anesthesiologists also manage in-vitro fertilization (IVF) operating rooms.

To enhance services, the anesthesia group is constantly trying to provide high quality anesthesia services by in-service specialists, staff training, and the latest standard equipment.

Services Outside Operating Rooms

These services are provided extensively in hospital wards, the most important being the regular monitoring and anesthesiologist attendance in special wards. The anesthesia team’s activities in hospital ICUs include invasive procedures such as mechanical ventilation, catheterization, and invasive and non-invasive monitoring.

Outpatient anesthesiologists also provide painless childbirth and are always available at the required times.

Their responsibilities also include anesthesia in imaging wards (MRI, CT, etc.) and permanent attendance in the emergency room and normal wards.

Monitoring and continuous painless postoperative control is another anesthesia service outside operating rooms.
